AWHA Mission Statement

The Association of Washington Housing Authorities serves local housing authorities in Washington State and through them all Washingtonians.

The benefits offered by the Association are the following:

• Support the viability and vitality of local housing authorities.
• Improved operations effectiveness.
• Professional growth and development for directors and management.
• Mutual support and problem solving.
• Influence public policy with an emphasis at the state level (both proactive and reactive).
• Increase the public's understanding of housing needs and solutions.
• Assist the local HUD office in introduction and refinement of programs.

The resources and programs offered by the Association are the following:

• Cooperation among AWHA members on joint projects of common benefit.
• Maintain a legislative advocacy program and information to members.
• Information sharing and education programs.
• Provide leadership with regard to housing issues.
• Cooperation and coordination with other local and national organizations, such as NAHRO, PHADA, and CLPHA.
